Obesity study

We are conducting a clinical research study of an investigational blood pressure and obesity clinical
research study comparing an approved weight loss medication, VI-0521, to placebo and how it affects
volunteers’ blood pressure.

Qualified participants must:

  • Be ages 18 to 75
  • Be overweight or obese by medical definition and have at least one weight-related comorbidity, such as elevated blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol (dyslipidemia), or type 2 diabetes.
  • Be willing to wear a blood monitoring device for 24 hours on two occasions
  • Meet other study criteria

Qualified participants will receive at no cost:

  • All study-related medical care
  • Lab test
  • Investigational medication

COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

The Study will compare the COPD symptoms experienced by the participants receiving the four different treatments.  The treatment assignment is made randomly by computer. Participants have an equal chance of being assigned to receive each of the treatments. The inhaled medication may reduce inflammation in the airways.

To join this study, potential study participants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Be at least 40 years of age 
  • Have COPD and chronic bronchitis with current symptoms 
  • Be a current or former smoker who quit 6 or more months before entering the study 
  • Have had a COPD exacerbation in the past 12 months that either: o required hospitalization, OR o required oral/injected corticosteroids and/or antibiotics 
  • Be on inhaled maintenance triple therapy for their COPD for at least 12 months 

There are additional requirements to participate. The staff at the study center will explain the complete list of requirements. At a pre-screening and screening visit, the study doctor and his staff will determine whether all requirements to participate are satisfied.

Flu Study

Single dose, 9 days investigation trial. The purpose of this trial it’s to analyze if the study drug which is already approved to reduce the length of the inluenza symptoms can also reduce the risk of spreading the virus to other people in the same home.

To join this study, potential participants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Have had the flu symptoms (fiver, shaking chills, pain, cough throat pain, running nose) for at least 48 hours.
  • Been between the age of 12 and 64 years old 
  • Have a good general health.
  • Do not live with a 2-year-old child or minor
  •  Do not live with someone who its currently with the flu
  • Have at least 2 home contacts not vaccinated and willing to participate on this trial.

The HUMMINGBIRD Study

For children 6 months to 11 years old, testing an investigational vaccine (also known as a study vaccine) called NVX-CoV2373, designed to prevent COVID-19. The HUMMINGBIRD study will test the study vaccine against a placebo to make sure the vaccine is safe and effective in children. for the prevention of mild, moderate, or severe COVID-19. To join this study, potential study participants must satisfy the following
requirements:

● Be in good health at time of participation
● Be between 6 months and 11 years of age
● Have never been diagnosed with COVID-19
● Not have received a previous vaccine to protect against
● COVID-19

Study to improve lung function in patients with COPD

To join this study, potential study participants must satisfy the following requirements:

● Male or female, age ≥40 years
● COPD diagnosis for at least 12 months before the screening visit.
● Current or ex-smokers who quit smoking at least 6 months prior to screening with a smoking history of at least 10 pack- years.

Study to demonstrate the slowing of disease progression when switching from cigarette smoking to the Tobacco Heating System

To join this study, potential study participants must satisfy the following requirements:

● Are between 40 and 65 years of age
● Have been smoking for at least 10 years
● Have been smoking a minimum of 10 cigarettes a day for at least the last year
● Have not used other tobacco and nicotine products apart from cigarettes on a daily basis over the past year
● Are not pregnant, if you are female
● Have experienced cough and sputum (symptoms of chronic bronchitis) over the past year OR have been diagnosed with mild-to-moderate COPD

Psoriasis Study

We are looking for adults: With Clinical diagnosis of Plaque Psoriasis for at least 6 months 

Ages 12-75 Eligible participants will receive:

  • Study Drug 
  • Study related medical care 
  • Compensation for your time and travel

The CALM-1 Study

 Looking at a potential new drug (an investigational drug) for the treatment of refractory chronic cough 

 We plan to enroll a wide variety of participants because Refractory Chronic Cough (RCC) and               treatments may affect people differently based on their age, sex, gender, and race and/or ethnicity. 

 We are looking for adults who:

  •  Age between 18 and 80 years of age
  • Have had a cough for at least 1 year that did not improve or only partially improved after medical evaluation and prescribed or over-the-counter treatments.
